Day of Remembrance

I am one of the many craft, cooking, lifestyle and DIY bloggers who had posts to share with you today, but the events of Friday's shooting in Connecticut have left us heartbroken. Like you, we cried as news reports poured in and wondered out loud about how something so cruel could hurt the most innocent and tender. We not only grieved for the lives lost and wounded, but for that part of the magic and wonder of this holiday season that was taken from us all. We know that no words, no gifts, no acts of service will ever take away the pain, but we, as bloggers and parents collectively, want those affected by this to know how close to our hearts they are: We love you. We pray for you. We're so heartbroken for your loss. To honor the memory of lives cut short, we choose to step away from our blogs and computers today to celebrate the gift of life and those we love most: our children, families, good friends and community. We're holding our kids a little closer, reaching out to neighbors and giving thanks for the moments we have together. Thank you for stopping by today. We hope you'll join us in remembering, praying, and gathering close. We wish you and your families a safe and blessed holiday.

Craft show at Conrad Weiser High School

On Saturday, 11/10, I participated in the very large craft show at Conrad Weiser High School in Berks County.  There were over 135 vendors and it was very well attended.  Here are a couple of photos of some of the things I took with me.

I will be showing at wonderful craft display in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania from December 2nd through the 4th.  If you would like more information about that show, please send me an email!

I am now posting all the new entries onto Hazelnut Deux (  I promised the lovely folks at Hazelnut Hill (the nut farm) that I would give up this blog link.  Hazelnut Deux will eventually move to a address but right now I am slammed working on inventory for the "Vendor Blender" on October 13th and the HUGE craft show at Conrad Weiser High School on October 27th.

Something new!

I received a Nook tablet for my birthday/Mother's Day.  This morning I finally made a cover.

What in the world is that little fuzzy thing on the bottom?!

It is quilted front and back and has interior pockets that are lined with rigid plastic to provide protection to the Nook.  All you have to do is flip open the cover and read your Nook.  The Nook is secured inside the cover with access to the entire screen and all the control buttons.  A quilted cotton cover with hook and loop closure sells for $28.  All covers can be custom made in fabrics and colors you may choose from my fabric collection.

This is my first prototype so I am still "tweaking" the design.  I am working on one that is made from batiks and has a leather closure and another with a completely different type of closure. More to see soon!

Walker tote

My mom is recovering from knee surgery and will need to use a walker for a little while.  I made this for her.

It is about 12" long and 14" across.  A fold over flap at the top attaches to itself with hook and loop tape.  It has two large pockets and four smaller pockets across the front. It can be modified to add a zippered pocket in the back for the safekeeping of valuables.  Without the zippered pocket the price is $20.  With the additional pocket, the bag sells for $25.  \Mom loves it and is strolling around the rehabilitation facility handing out my business cards!
